Weekly Reflection: The Friend
The Friend Everyone said she was a sage, though she asked that we call her friend. Sitting in her quiet presence, all my attempts at controlling my life seemed misguided. As we asked our questions, she gave no answers. She just listened with such care, while something deep within her swayed like a thin branch at the top of a towering tree. Something ancient in her was bowing ever so slightly to a nameless wind. At a break, over coffee, she leaned into me and said, “You can sway this deeply, too. We all can.” A Question to Walk With: In conversation with a friend or loved one, tell the story of someone who encouraged you to believe in yourself.
